BB américas card - "Dilma Card"

Hi guys, how are you?

Everything here is going ok and I'd like to talk about the "dilma card". Students from Cnpq, recieved it (as the information I have) before travel, either Bsc either Phd students. However, quite of a bigger number of CAPES students (as me), didn't and the information we had was that we should open a bank account and that our scholarship would come to this bank account.

 (the first part of scholarship+ tickets and health insurance will be paid in a personal brazilian bank account, more informations about this look here)

So, recently I recieved a mail, as many brazilians students saying that we would recieve the card. BOMB, I am here already and my card is going to Brazil, what should I do??

telefone e e-mail nela indicados). Tais contatos deverão ser efetuados pelo próprio

When you call, they will be very helpful and changed your address for the current one. You must pay $10.00 for send to a new address (different from the brazilian one), your card will take about 30 days to arrive and when it arrives you can activate by website.

If in the end Capes will send the money on the card or on the account its a great question. I opened an account and sent to them the details just in case (actually I did before I knew I'd recieve the card). I will let you know guys when I recieve mine.

Hoje eu quero falar sobre o "Dilma card". Os alunos CNPq receberam (pelo que sei) o cartão antes de sair do Brasil e já sabiam que a bolsa viria nesse cartão, sejam esses alunos da graduação ou doutorado. Para os da Capes, alguns alunos de graduação o receberam, contudo para os de doutorado, segundo informações dadas pelos próprios técnicos e editais receberiam a bolsa numa conta bancária no exterior.
Alguns alunos como eu, de repente e recentemente receberam um e-mail da Capes dizendo:

Prezado (a) bolsista

Quando voce ligar, eles te ajudarão a mudar o endereço do Brasil p/ o do exterior ou atual. Voce pagara uma taxa de 10,00 dolares por isso (por sua conta). O cartao chegara em +/- 30 dias. Quando isso ocorrer ative-o pela internet.

Se a Capes vai mandar o dinheiro na conta  ou no cartão e uma incognita. Eu abri a conta, o fiz antes de saber do cartão, e mandei os dados p/ Capes do mesmo jeito, porque vai que, né?

Trip tips 5: Traveling around

Hey guys, two posts today 'cos I am w/o post anything for some time already, so lot thing to tell about!

Oi gente, dois posts hoje pq faz tempo que não posto nada, assim que tenho muita informação.

Let´s talk about travel, who dosen't like to do it??

1. Traveling by airplane:

Here in Europe you have many many airport and companies to choose. Generally people use the "low cost" flights, cos the must be cheaper than the big companies.

The companies whom offer this kind of service are (the famous ones): Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling and you can use this websites to look for flights as well: E-dreams and http://www.skyscanner.net/

Those flights are generaly cheaper than the ones offered by big companies as British Airways or Iberia, but they have a luggage restriction. Be aware, each company has a rule, so don't forget to check it out before travel because pay for extra lugagge can be really expensive, they are really strict with that. Here is a ilustration from Ryanair rule:

For Ryanair everything you have, including a women purse need to be inside of suitcase. Vueling accepts will bring a women purse. In all companies you can bring your big jacket outside of the suitcase.

Umas das maneiras mais fáceis e baratas de viajar na Europa é através dos vôos "low cost", as principais empresas são Ryanair, Vuelling e Easyjet. Elas oferecem vôos mais em conta mas tem uma política bem restrita quanto a bagagem, preste atenção quando comprar suas passagens porque será informado. Pagar por bagagem extra pode sair até mais caro que sua passagem, então tome cuidado. Na imagem e links acima você pode ter mais informações sobre o assunto.

2. By train

Travel by train can be really confortable and beautiful and expensive as well. If you are lucky, you can find some cheap tickets, but the trains prices always change, so you need to keep looking to find some good deal. On Euro rail website you may find more information about it.

Viajar de trem pode ser bem confortável mas pode ser caro, contudo se você tiver sorte pode conseguir preços bons! No site acima você pode obter mais informações obre viagens de trem pela Europa.

3. Traveling inside of UK

If you are leaving here it may be usefull do a Rail Uk card for you as a student, and you will have disccount to travel by train a undergroung around UK, the price is £30,00. If you travel in a group of 4 you also get disccount for your travel, what generally is a great option. This website: uk city breaks bring you more information about travel on the Queen´s land.

Se você vive no RU, faça o cartão de estudante p/ viagens de trem. Custa £30,00 e te dá desconto para viajar pelo país. Se você for em grupos com 4 pessoas também pode obter descontos. No link acima você pode obter mais informações sobre viajar por aqui.

4. Sharing places

There is a group on facebook where people offer accommodation and ask for them around Europe, and also some trip tips and events. So take a look at it: facebook group

Living in the UK 8: Living as a Tier 4 student/ Vivendo com visto tier 4

Hey guys how are doing???

Here is going great and I am for sure having a lovely time, follow the next posts to know more. This post is to talk about something really important, our Tier 4 visa, it's not just for brazilians, all students outside europe probably have the same one, so pay attention I will post here some important information that you must pay attention as soon as you arrive and during the whole time you are here.

Eu estou adorando estar aqui e logo espero postar mais coisas. Esse post é para falar especialmente com os alunos (brasileiros ou não) que tem o visto Tier 4, vou postar coisas importantes que você deve prestar atenção assim que chegar e durante a sua estadia.

Para aqueles ainda no período de aplicação do visto, olhem os links acima. ;]

1 - Your arrival:

You are going to go through the immigration office when you arrive in any of the UK´s airport. There you will need to fill up a form (probably you will recieve on the airplane already, if not they will give you one there). You will do this everytime that you get in UK. When you first arrive, keep in your hands your University letter (CAS), your sponsorship letter/financial confirmation, your accommodation contract and of course your passaport. Don't be nervous, everything will be just fine.

Você passará pela imigração, precisará preencher um formulário, não só a primeira vez que entrar no país, mas todas  as vezes que fizer isso. Tenha em mãos quando chegar aqui, seu CAS, passaporte, carta do patrocinador e contrato da acomodação. Não fique nervoso, dará tudo certo.

2- Travelling around

You are allowed to travel to Europe, as soon you have the visa, or on brazilians' case,  we don't need one. For your protection and for protect your visa, the University gave us the orientation that we should not do on class period. I know everybody wants to travel, but you are here also for study, and you need to do that, so travel on the weekends and holidays and everything will be fine. You MUST not miss your classes.

Você pode sim viajar pela Europa. Os brasileios não precisam de vsito p/ isto, outras nacionalidades podem precisar. Por norma do visto você NÃO pode viajar em período de aula p/ fora do UK, claro que fins de semana, feriado e férias são permitidos. Lembre-se que viajar é legal mas você veio p/ estudar e se faltar nas aulas você pode colocar seu visto em risco, assim que evite, viaje nos fins de semana e/ ou nos dias em que não tenha aula.

3- University letter

When you arrive and do your registration you can ask a official letter from your University and bring this with your everytime you go travel, that it's just for your protection in case someone ask you that. This is not your CAS is a different letter.

Quando você fizer sua matrícula peça um comprovante p/ faculdade. Todas vez que viajar p/ fora do UK leve  com você,

4- Police registration

ALL tier 4 students MUST register at the police during your first week here (you have until 7 days). Do not let it for the last day because most of time you need to call and ask an appointment. You need as well to pay a fee £34,00 that you must bring in cash and correct value (they will not give you a change). For this registration you need: your CAS, the confirmation of your registration at University, your passport, 2 passport pictures (they may not take there), your sponsorship letter and your adress in UK (if you do not have a fixed one, bring from the place where you are current living, then when you change you MUST go there again to register-w/o pay- the new adress). TODOS os estudantes tier 4 tem até 7 dias p/ se registrar na polícia. Não deixe para a última hora, você precisa agendar um horário. Você precisará pagar £34,00, leve em dinheiro a quantia exata, eles não dão troco. Para o registro você precisa do CAS, comprovante de matrícula e moradia (se ainda não tem uma fixa leve o da provisória, e quando mudar volte lá para registrar de novo - mas sem pagar), a carta da agência financiadora, passaporte e duas fotos formato passaporte que você deve tirar antes de ir. Para mais informações olhe no link acima e não esquece que tem que marcar antes de ir!

5- Missing class

All you do here, as well what you do not is registered on your visa status, so avoid miss your classes

Tudo que você fica registrado, e o que não faz também, evite faltar.

6 - Asignature

Here, on Anglia Ruskin, if you are a Bsc student, you must pass you student card every beginning of class and sign a list everyweek to prove you are attending your classes. If you a Phd, you need o give your asignature once a month. This is really important, so put an alarm in your phone to don't forget. For students from diferente Universities, check with them what you need to do.

Aqui em Anglia, se você é da graduação tem que passar o cartão todo começo de aula e assinar uma lista toda semana. Os doutorando assinam a lista uma vez por mês. Não deixe de fazer, é a prova que você está frequentando as aulas ok? Para os que são de outras Universidades, verifiquem o procedimento.

Living in the UK 7: Orientation Week

Hello guys, how are you doing??

I am doing really great over here, making new friends, have fun and lot of information on my Orientation Week!!

At University is happening many many different activities for all kind of tastes and aims, so if you don´t know what´s is going on, check here student union website or on your "welcome booklet"

(Oi gente, por aqui está indo tudo muito bem, estamos na semana de orientação/ boas vindas e tudo tem sido muito legal, temos diversos tipos de atividades e para todos os gostos também)

For this week we had already a night on a real british pub, with rock music live/DJ really nice (it´s behind the Chelmsford´s Cathedral):

(Fomos já à um Pub inglês, que toca rock, ao vivo ou com DJ, muito bom!)

We also attended to a tour for Chelmsford´s Cathedral, what was really nice, cos we had pizza over there and also learned a bit mroe about the history of the city and how to ring a bell as well, what was pretty cool stuff!

(Fizemos também um tour para a Catedral de Chelmsford, e lá comemos pizza e vimos como se toca o sino da igreja, o que foi um espetáculo a parte!!)

Yesterday we had the Facebook T-shirt party, which was really cool, everybody has a T-shirt where we could write messages, reminded me my old times at school, we had lot of fun!

(Ontem foi a Facebook party, e todos tínhamos camisetas, nas quais podíamos escrever, o que foi ótimo, me lembrou os tempos do colégio!)

Despite parties and tour, we also have so many intereting lectures to attend, so just check your Welcome guide.

For those who dosen´t know, today at 15:00 will have a Tea party and tomorrow at 13:45 iced skating, everything free and of course everyday a party from SU.

(Além das festas tem muitas palestras ocorrendo, e hoje as três tem chá e amanhã a 13:45 patinação no gelo! Participe!)

Trip Tips UK 1: London: 1st sighting day

Hey everybody, how are you doing???

I am doing good, I went to London today. It´s really beautiful!

There I´ve visited London Eye, made a River cruise and came to see Plataform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter (the highest point of the day, to me).

(Oi gente, aqui está indo tudo bem. Hoje fui p/ Londres, a cidade é linda e visitei a London Eye, fiz o passeio de barco e fui, claro na King´s Cross ver a Plataforma 9 3/4, que foi a melhor parte do dia p/ mim).

London it´s really curious city, you can find there people from everywhere, it´s really busy and full of turists and you can hear many different accents and languages, it´s full of cuture. The architeture is for all kind of tastes, since the city has many moderm building and some old one as well. Fo HP fans, you will be pleased to know that there you can find a Invisible bridge (next to the bridge was destroyed on HP and half-blood prince) and if you go to King´s Cross you will find the plataform and a HP store waiting for you! It´s really good.

(Londres é uma cidade muito curiosa, cheia de pessoas diferentes, de todas partes, é bem agitada e cheia de turistas falando vários tipos de línguas, é um banho de cultura. A Arquetetura é muito variada, vai desde de prédios modernos e espelhados aos mais antigos da realeza. Para o fãs do HP tem uma ponte invisível, pela qual passa o trem p/ Hogwarts, e se você for p/ King´s Cross, poderá tirar foto na plataforma e comprar sua varinha entre outros, numa loja só do HP. É bem legal.

If you are going to stay just a day or a month, it´s better option for you to buy more than one attraction tickets, because in this way you can get really good discounts. It´s also good idea to do your Rail card, than you get disccount to travel by train and underground, its costs £30,00 per year for students.

(Ficando um dia ou mais, vale a pena comprar pacote de atrações pois você consegue um bom desconto. Se vai morar no UK, é legal fazer o cartão Rail pois terá descontos muitos bons p/ andar de trem e metrô em todas as zonas de Londres e também p/ viajar dentro do UK, vale a pena só custa £30,00 por ano para estudante.
